FISHING
In
the whole world the activity of fishing is characterized
by the duality of productive processes. One designated as
industrial fishing, characterized by a high economic and
ecological cost and by the concentration of the capture
of a few species and other as artesian fishing, characterized
by the low economic and ecological cost and by the capture
of diverse species of fish, crustaceans, and molluscs. It
is estimated that in Ceará's coastal zone there are
around 10,000 families, approximately 60,000 people, who
are dependent directly or indirectly on artesian fishing.
